Bell
Sports Inc. has been making Bell bicycle helmets since 1954 not
only for the cycling industry, but also helmets for motor sports
and road riding. They have a full range of helmets from the bell
toddler bike helmet to those more specialized for BMX and mountain
bike riders.
Claim to Fame:
Geared
Positioning System (GPS): a one handed adjustment of the interior
harness to fine tune the fit and snug it around your head, no
fussing with straps, foam or clips. Available only on its higher
end helmets.
Cam Lock Levers:
Open
and shut levers that allow you to customize the fit of the straps
around your ears. A big improvement on the old buckles that took
a lot of time and fiddling to get the fit right.
Ventilation:
Various numbers of ventilation channels are used in bell bicycle
helmets to direct air over the top of your head to cool you off.
On the more expensive models like the Bell Sweep, Ghisallo and
X-Ray bike helmet the channels are more highly sculptured and
direct more air flow with wind tunnel perfection to keep you cool.
They use a composite skeleton that strengthens the bicycle helmet's
design to allow for less helmet, reduced weight and more vents,
yet with the same impact strength.. These higher end helmets are
typically in the $100 range.
For the casual rider breaking the bank to buy the bike helmet
with the most vents may not make any sense. Looking at their sport
line of Bell Citi helmets may be more appropriate.

Most Well Known Bell Helmets:
The Bell Citi: is probably the best know of the Bell helmets,
especially after winning the 2006 & 2007 Consumer Reports
Best Buy Approval. This particular bicycle helmet is designed
for the casual urban rider in mind with a few less frills. Their
new Citi delivers midrange features at a modest price with the
ErgoDial fit system for easy sizing adjustments, and the durability
of Fusion In-Mold construction. Includes Blade visor, easy-adjust
Cam-lock levers, air-moving channeled ventilation and the option

youth, as well as a bell toddler bike helmet and even those with
larger heads, BMX and downhill riders.
Warranty:
"Any Bell bicycle helmets determined by Bell to be defective in
materials or workmanship within one (1) year from the date of
original purchase will be repaired or replaced, at Bell's option,
free of charge when received at the factory freight prepaid, together
with proof of purchase."
