Shimano Bicycle Parts
Shimano has a long history like most bicycle part manufacturers
that started with one young entrepreneural and energetic young man.
In this case a fellow by the name of Shozaburo Shimano. He started
Shimano Iron Works in 1921 with the production of a bicycle freewheel.
This fledgling company spent the next 30 years developing the prototypes
for internal and external gear change systems which lay the ground
work for their reputation today.
Shimano Bicycle Components:
Deore XT: this is a series of
MTB Shimano Bicycle Parts developed and brought to market in 1982
XTR: In 1994 Shimano introduced
the XTR Series of ultra-lightweight high performance MTB components
for off-road riders.
Dura-Ace: A line of Shimano bicycle
parts for road cyclists, introduced in 1984 with the new Shimano
Index System (SIS) for shifting.
